Leaked pictures suggest God of War 4 may be based on Norse Mythology

There hasn’t been an official announcement from Sony about the next entry in the popular God of War series, but rumors have begun that the next installment will be based on Norse mythology.

Twitter user Shinobi602 sparked this discussion on April 4th when he tweeted, “…to the halls of Vahalla. My boy. #GodofWar4” suggesting that the next game would somehow be linked to Norse mythology. The twitter user just recently confirmed leaked gameplay footage from Mass Effect: Andromeda.

Soon after there were leaked images appeared on NerdLeaks which included what appears to be the game’s protagonist, Kratos featuring a beard and his iconic red tattoo. There were also images featuring the character in other Norse inspired levels.

The NerdLeaks website was taken down but the images are still available on NeoGAF.

Still no confirmation or announcement from Sony on a future release in the series. These images may be entirely fake or may stem from an idea that the company wanted to take with the series that may not happen.

God of War: Ascension was the last entry in the God of War series in 2013 for the Playstation 3.

While not as well received as it prior installments the game still managed to deliver a quality and entertaining experience. Kratos on a next-gen system isn’t the worst idea in the world.
