13-inch Macbook Air now comes standard with 8GB of RAM

With news of Apple updating their Macbook line with faster processors and a new Rose Gold color, Apple is also announcing that their 13-inch Macbook Air will come standard with 8GB of RAM.

Let’s face it folks, 4GB of RAM just isn’t cutting it anymore, and most consider 8GB the minimum when it comes to their personal computers. In current models you’d have to shell out an addition $100 just to make the upgrade your memory. And for a laptop that’s just under a thousand dollars, that decision can go either way. It makes sense for these high end machines to have a standard 8GB of memory for everyday use.

This decision is Apple’s way of staying competitive in a growing market of ultraportable and capable laptops. It would be nice if Apple introduced an updated design or the inclusion of a Retina Display. These would serve only to refresh what feels like a tired design from six years ago. At least now those that have had their eye on a Macbook Air will feel like it is money well spent.
